Developmental Counting Sticks 900385 IGROTECO by the manufacturer Igroteko.
The counting sticks, following the Cuisenaire method (56 pieces + 10 double-sided exercise cards), are a versatile educational tool for developing mathematical skills in children. They are known by various names: counting stick set, « colored numbers, » « colored rods, » « colored digits. »
This game includes 56 wooden sticks in 10 different colors, each with a cross-section of 10×10 mm, with distinct lengths and colors. Sticks of the same length are the same color. The longer the stick, the greater its numerical value—the smallest stick (« unit ») is 10 mm long and represents the number 1; each subsequent stick is 10 mm longer and represents the next ordinal number: the pink stick represents the number 2 (20 mm), the blue stick represents the number 3 (30 mm), and so on.
The game also includes 10 colorful double-sided cards with exercises of three difficulty levels. The cards measure 10×10 cm.
With the counting sticks, children quickly and interactively grasp the basic mathematical principles:
- The concept of numbers and their composition
- The numerical sequence
- Direct and inverse numbers
- Concepts of magnitude: larger, smaller, equal, higher, lower, longer, shorter
- Orientation in space: right, left
- Addition and subtraction with the sticks
- Assistance in learning the multiplication table
- Visual demonstration of dividing a whole into two parts.
The counting sticks are designed for play and learning with children aged 3 to 8 at home and in preschool settings.
